In 2024 I got the opportunity to work with Sanktuary Films on their latest production, a feature film called Die Kwiksilwers. It was initially destined for Silwerskerm Fees where it was awarded Audience Favourite of the festival, but has quickly been picked up by international distributors and will soon see a run at Ster Kinekor which is a massive accomplishment.
It's a wonderful story of an elderly woman, struggling to come to terms with the death of her husband, who decides to take their old car on one last joyride to Sutherland to watch a meteor shower from the observatory. She ropes in three friends and they head off on a roadtrip that quickly turns into the adventure of a lifetime.
Grading on this project was a real pleasure with a lot of the story taking place in the Karoo, one of South Africa's most picturesque areas. The film was shot by Gavin Pincus who is one of the most creative and talented DPs I know. We are very proud of this film and I'm very happy to have been a part of the team.
